Ninth Ward Farewell

Here we have what you have all been waiting for (Yeah, OK, technically "dreading"). From 2005, inspired by Hurricane Katrina, we have the vocal stylings of the irrepressible Mr. Jar-Jar Binks, an artist perhaps best known for his solo album, "Weesa All Gonna Die!!" with its hit-and-run single "Meesa Gotsa No Boomer!!" This lovely piece may be sung to the melody of that old calypso tune "Jamaica Farewell" (Lord Burgess (Irving Burgie), 1956).

Down away where de life is gay

aní de sun shines daily on Lake Pontchartrain

Meesa had a shack by de railroad track.

Den weesa had a little problem wití a hurricane.

Chorus:

Now meesa goiní back to find mees shack.

Den meesa has a heart attack.

Waterís gone down aní meesa lookiní arouní,

but where mees house was is only empty grouní.

All mees life meesa saviní up.

Den meesa buys a place dat meesa can own,

a shotgun shack by de railroad track.

Doní souní like much, but meesa calls it home.

Repeat Chorus

Sounís of weeping evírywhere

aní people beesa runniní rouní and rouní.

Meesa tinkiní itísa too much to bear,

so meesa tinkiní Ďbout moviní to higher grouní.

Repeat Chorus

Down away where de life is gay

aní de sun shines daily on Lake Pontchartrain,

meesa had a shack by de railroad track.

Den weesa had a little problem wití a hurricane.
